Marc Parney - PGA of Canada, Class A professional
My friends would describe me as a passionate, fun loving person who might be obsessed with sports. It has been my privilege to coach (a variety of) youth / minor sports over 28 years. I have been coaching golf as a CPGA member for 12 years.
My passion is helping people (of all ages and abilities) learn how to increase their fun through more deeply understand themselves and what makes them tick. More importantly, how can I help them improve their own physical and emotional intelligence. Simply put, I truly enjoy helping people figure out how to get the most out of their sport.
I love golf because it is a sport that we can all play together for a life time. It's a game that is directly related to being present in the moment. You can only rely on yourself.
We play this (and other games) for the pure enjoyment. Golf is a game of equal challenge and reward. We all know how challenging it can be. At the same time, we all know how rewarding it can be.
Every player is unique. Everyone has different goals and achievements that they strive for. I am here to ensure every golfer has as much as fun as possible while attaining their goals. 'Serious fun'.
My goal is understanding your expectations, dreams, and challenges. Everyone has a different way of learning and understanding information. I strive to provide personalized coaching that will unlock maximum fun while playing this great game.
The Canmore Golf & Curling Club is ideally located in the heart of scenic Canmore Alberta.
Enjoy our: driving range (including private section for lessons), short game practice area, putting greens, and an extra hole (perfect for practicing those specific approach distances).
The primary focus is to introduce fundamental golf skills in a fun and supportive learning environment. Participants will learn the basics of grip, stance, and posture, as well as the techniques for swinging and putting. The class typically incorporates interactive games and activities to keep golfers engaged while developing their coordination, balance, and motor skills.
Emphasis is placed on creating a positive and enjoyable introduction to golf, fostering a love for the game, and laying the foundation for further skill development as golfers progress in their golf journey.
Beginner golfers are introduced to the rules and etiquette of the game, as well as understanding the mental / emotional side of golf.
We use age-appropriate equipment and tailored coaching to suit the needs and abilities for beginners of all ages, and experience.
Intermediate golf classes build upon the foundational skills acquired in the beginner level, catering to golfers who have developed a basic understanding of the game.
This class focuses on refining and expanding their golf abilities. Participants will delve deeper into the technical aspects of the swing, putting, and short game, with an increased emphasis on consistency and accuracy.
Intermediate golf classes often introduce more advanced concepts, such as emotions management, course management, understanding different clubs, and developing a strategic approach to the game. The curriculum may include specialized drills and exercises to enhance specific aspects of their performance.
This is where golfers start fostering a deeper understanding of the sport's nuances.
To keep the learning experience engaging, coaches might incorporate simulated on-course scenarios, group competitions, and skill challenges. Intermediate coaching sessions aim to instill a sense of progression and accomplishment, motivating golfers to continue refining their skills and nurturing a passion for the game as they move towards achieving goals (or setting new ones).
This is an experience tailored for golfers who have already demonstrated proficiency in the fundamentals and have progressed beyond the intermediate level.
This class is designed to elevate their skills to a higher level of performance, preparing them for more competitive / consistent play.
The curriculum in an experienced coaching regiment typically involves advanced techniques in swing mechanics, shot shaping, and mastering various playing conditions.
Participants will receive targeted coaching on refining their short game, honing their mental approach to the game, as well as developing a deeper understanding of strategy and course management.
In order for experienced golfers to improve, they are often required to have an honest understanding of their personal strengths and weaknesses. Custom or nuanced approaches may be introduced to target and strengthen very specific parts of their game. Coaching may include simulated tournament play, pressure situations, and advanced practice drills to replicate real-world scenarios.
Moreover, there may be an increased focus on fitness, flexibility, conditioning, or mindset to optimize overall performance on the golf course. The goal is to prepare players for competitive tournaments and potentially advance to higher levels of competition.
